ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE
Road Rangers
The Expressway Authority and Florida's Turnpike Enterprise operate the Road Ranger Roadside Assistance Program
on Central Florida's toll roads including State Road 408, State
Road 417, State Road 429, and State Road 528. Road Rangers provide
minor breakdown assistance such as changing a flat tire or providing
fuel. Road Rangers will also provide access to a cell phone
and will assist with contacting a tow truck. Another primary
function of the Road Ranger program is to aid with traffic control
at accident scenes. Road Rangers are on patrol from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Road Rangers cannot
be contacted directly, but will stop to assist if they see you
pulled over on the side of the road.
Florida Highway Patrol
The Expressway Authority has contracted with the Florida Highway Patrol Troop D in Orlando
to provide dedicated patrols from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. There
are up to three troopers on the Expressway Authority system
during those hours to insure a prompt response to calls for
service. The primary goal of the program is to provide a quick
response to accident scenes in an effort to eliminate congestion
as quickly as possible. The troopers have also been equipped
with Cardiac Defibrilators in case a customer on the Expressway
Authority system should experience a medical emergency. In October
2002, a defibrilator was successfully used for the first time
to revive a driver who was suffering a heart attack . |
